In Motion is a program developed by APTA to celebrate
public transportation and to showcase how transit benefits
communities by providing personal opportunity to individuals.
On October 5, 2006, the transit community will join
together to celebrate Communities In Motion. This
online toolkit provides important information that
will assist you in bringing Communities In Motion
to life in your community.
In addition to your full range of Communities In
Motion activities, APTA proposes transit agencies
participate in the Public Transportation: The Fabric

By participating in Communities In Motion, you will
help build support for public transportation by educating
your community and decision makers about public transportation’s
role in the community. Public transportation gives
people from all walks of life access to opportunities
to accomplish what is important to them, making the
community stronger and more vibrant.

a pivotal role in promoting the benefits of public
transportation.
