Business Member Board of Governors (BMBG)

The Business Member Board of Governors is responsible for directing and establishing activities for APTA's Business Members and developing policy recommendations to APTA's Executive Committee and Board of Directors which represent the interests of all Business Members.

Their objectives include encouragement of greater Business Member participation in APTA; development of better communication between governmental bodies and APTA Business Members; and providing APTA with continuing support in its efforts to represent the public transit industry.

Committees

The following committees are comprised of members of the BMBG

  • Business Member Business Development Committee
  • Business Member Bylaws Committee
  • Business Member Government Affairs Committee
  • Business Member International Business Development Committee
  • Business Member Liaison and Outreach Committee
  • Business Member Nominations Committee
  • Business Member Procurement Committee
  • Business Member Programs Committee
  • Business Member Small Business Committee

BMBG Meetings

BMBG meetings are open to all APTA business members and their attendance and participation is welcome and appreciated.  The agenda for the meetings varies but is generally focused on issues about doing business in the transit industry and APTA programs that support private sector involvement in the industry.

One important component of the BMBG program is support for APTA’s transit advocacy efforts.  Through the business member activity fund, business members have provided the industry with a number of important publications that highlight the important benefits of investments in public transportation.

International Business Programs

APTA and the FTA are working together on a series of trade missions and other international activities that highlight US transportation products and services in the international market place. APTA business members are invited and encouraged to participate in these programs.
