Administration
The committee serves as a focal point for the development of plans, policies, and procedures designed to enhance the effectiveness of safety management activities within the transit industry. This is accomplished through the support and continued development of the Rail Safety Audit Program (RSAP) as a process that enables transit systems to determine the degree to which their respective safety programs have been implemented.
Current Issues
- Revision of the APTA Manual for Rail Transit System Safety Program Plans.
- A survey will be developed in the near future to assess the combined Best Practices of the Bus, Rail and Commuter Rail industry. The results will be displayed with other reference documents and tools on APTA’s new Rail Safety Committee private website.
Future Meetings
- Meeting itinerary & logistics will be emailed to members and posted on the APTA Safety site.
