Join the group at 9:30 a.m. in the California Parlor for an explanation
of today's events by representatives of the host organizations. Departing
at 10:00 a.m., the tour includes demonstrations of ITS applications
utilized by Bay Area mass transit providers, including a ride on a MUNI
bus equipped with Digital Voice Announcement System (DVAS) software.
In the morning, you'll experience "Talking Signs" technology
used by CalTrain at the 4th Street Station. AC Transit will display
an innovatively designed low floor bus for participants to view and
experience, and Yellow Cab Cooperative of San Francisco will showcase
a ramp taxi equipped with a version of the current Paratransit Electronic
Debit Card technology used for Muni's San Francisco Paratransit. Discussion
and demonstration of the next generation Debit Card System is included.
Get a quick take-out lunch on your own, among the gourmet offerings
at the San Francisco Ferry Building's Marketplace. Following a demonstration
of TransLink® technology at the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal, the
group will take a round-trip ferry ride to Sausalito. The tour concludes
with demonstrations of ITS applications at the Montgomery Street BART
Station. Arrive back at the hotel approximately 3:30 p.m.
