With the theme “Growth and Renewal” the 2009 Joint Light Rail Conference will focus on meeting the demands of rapidly growing light rail systems, as well as the needs of older systems facing renewal. Original older systems are now reaching an age of maturity requiring attention to infrastructure and system upgrading.
Light rail and specifically the streetcar have reappeared as tools to aid downtown circulation and spur urban development and the 2009 conference will address special industry needs in their renewal and growth.
The 2009 Joint Light Rail Conference will host 12 sessions under two tracks, along with three workshops including transit security, operations training, and vehicle procurement guidelines

Networking Opportunities: Cultivate new relationships and meet industry peers from around the world at this truly international event. This event only comes around once every three years.
Who should attend: Transit agencies looking for state-of-the-art ways to optimize their light rail planning, maintenance and operation.
