Media outlets in Washington are reporting that the House of Representatives has decided not to make changes to dedicated public transit funding. They also report that the House will move forward with a shorter term bill. It is not clear what the funding levels might be in this dynamic process or what other changes to the bill might be considered.
Congressional Quarterly/Roll Call quotes a senior GOP aide saying “that change to transit that the bill had originally contained – primarily, getting rid of its funding link to the Highway Trust Fund will be “postponed.””
These are all the details that are available at this time. Please continue to contact and meet with your elected officials to stress the importance of stable financing for public transportation as the legislative process continues.
Thanks for all of your work. Your efforts have made the difference!
