ACCESS-TO-WORK BEST PRACTICES SURVEY

In order to help American Public Transit Association (APTA) member transit systems and businesses improve their welfare-to-work transportation services and job creation and training efforts, the APTA Access to Jobs Task Force is conducting its second APTA wide survey. The results of the first survey were published in Welfare-to-Work Survey Summary Report in October 1998, copies of which have been mailed to APTA members. If you have not received a copy or would like another copy, please contact Margaret Mullins at (202) 898-4027 or by e-mail at mmullins@apta.com.

This 1999 survey will focus on collecting a limited amount of statistical information concerning the availability of federal assistance for welfare-to-work transportation, developing a list of welfare-to-work activity contacts to facilitate the exchange of information among APTA members, and obtaining descriptions of best transportation, employment, or training practices to share those successful practices with all APTA members. Please note that, except where noted, responses to questions may be published by APTA as part of its summary of the results of the survey, in full, with your organization identified as the respondent.

Please complete and return your surveys by Monday, July 12, 1999. If you any questions concerning this survey, please contact John Neff, Senior Policy Researcher, at (202) 496-4812 or by e-mail at jneff@apta.com.
