Admission to all scheduled activities requires a name badge. Please register and pick up your badge upon arrival. The registration desk, located in 
Georgia Room II, 3rd Floor, Tower Side, JW Marriott L.A. LIVE, is open the following times:

American Public Transportation Foundation (APTF)

The APTF is a 501c (3) non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the education and professional development of young professionals pursuing careers in public transportation.
 
The APTF is hosting the following three events during the Annual Meeting:

APTA Standards Program Information Desk 

Standards development has become an important program activity at APTA and in the public transportation industry. Hundreds of industry volunteers serving on numerous working committees have developed standards for bus, rail transit, and commuter rail operations, maintenance, procurement, and ITS. These consensus-based standards are now being used to achieve operational efficiencies and safety improvements in services, facilities, and vehicles across the industry.
 
To learn more about the Standards Program and/or to get involved, stop by the APTA Standards Program Information Desk Monday through Wednesday in the Platinum Ballroom Foyer, 2nd Floor, Ballroom Side, JW Marriott L.A. LIVE.

Committee Meetings

Committee meetings are open to all interested APTA members. Members are encouraged to participate and become involved.

Conference Name Badges

Name badges are required for all educational sessions, committee meetings, meal functions, receptions, and technical tours. Please cooperate by wearing your badge at all times during the Annual Meeting.

Continuing Education Credentialing

APTA is awarding credits for sessions tailored to the needs of new and experienced transportation professionals for the following organizations.

The organizing committee encourages a business dress code at all events. 

Early Career Program

APTA welcomes the members of the Early Career Program (ECP) Class of 2016 to the Annual Meeting. The class met prior to this conference for their capstone session, which included workshops, briefings, a site visit, and round-table discussions. ECP’s year-long program also included a ten-month mentorship program, online briefings, and assignments. Class members will conclude the year with graduation on Monday, September 12, 3:45 to 5:15 p.m. in the Platinum Ballroom Salon C, 2nd Floor, Ballroom Side, JW Marriott L.A. LIVE. Please join us in congratulating the inaugural members of APTA’s Early Career Program Class of 2016.

Host Information Desk

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) will have a general information desk in the APTA registration area, Georgia Room II,
3rd Floor
, Tower Side, JW Marriott L.A. LIVE, from Saturday, September 10 through Wednesday, September 14. Host staff will be available to answer questions you may have regarding local sites, restaurants, social and cultural activities, and to provide transportation information and maps. Be sure to stop by and pick up your complimentary regional transit pass, good during the conference. The host information desk will be open the same hours as the APTA registration desk.

Leadership APTA

Welcome the Leadership APTA Class of 2016 who will be honored at a special program featuring their leadership project presentations and graduation ceremonies on Tuesday, September 13, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the Diamond Ballroom, 4th Floor, Ballroom Side, JW Marriott L.A. LIVE. We also welcome the incoming Class of 2017 who will be recognized at the Tuesday afternoon program. And, plan to attend the Leadership APTA reception scheduled on Tuesday, September 13, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Gold Ballroom Salon 4, 1st Floor, Ballroom Side, JW Marriott L.A. LIVE.

Speakers & Moderators

Studio 1, 2nd Floor, Tower Side, JW Marriott L.A. LIVE will be available Sunday, September 11 through Wednesday, September 14. Moderators are encouraged to use this room to meet informally with their speakers to go over last-minute details prior to the start of their sessions, and to preview their PowerPoint presentations. The room is open the same times as the APTA registration desk.
 

Student Involvement & Registration

Encouraging student involvement is an important goal for APTA’s conferences and meetings. APTA’s workforce development initiatives have embraced the need to prepare the next generation of leaders within the public transportation industry. Faculty and students at local colleges and universities are invited to attend and are encouraged to participate in the conference programming.
 
Student registration is free and includes admission to:
  • educational sessions
  • Public Transportation "Pitch" Session for young professionals (Tuesday, Sept. 13, 9:45 - 11:15 a.m.)
  • Products & Services Showcase
  • technical tours 
To be eligible, the student must:
  • be currently enrolled in a college or university
  • complete the Conference Registration Form
  • present his or her current student ID when registering on site
