Airport Connection

METRO connects to Sky Harbor International Airport at the light rail station at 44th and Washington Streets using the free PHX Airport Shuttle. It is the silver and black bus with the electronic display that reads: METRO light rail & Airport Terminals. The airport shuttle travels to all terminals.

Airport Shuttle Bus Hours of Operations
Sunday - Thursday: 4:40 am to 11:00 pm
Friday: 4:40 am to 2:00 am
Saturday: 5:00 am to 2:00 am

METRO light rail runs every 12 minutes from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm on weekdays, and every 15-20 minutes at all other times. A timetable can be found here:

http://routes.valleymetro.org/timetables/785/transit_route?type=1

From the 44th and Washington Street drop off of the Airport Shuttle, passengers should cross Washington Street heading north to the 44th and Washington METRO light rail station. Purchase a fare at the fare vending machine on the platform. If you do not plan to use Valley Metro transit service again prior to registering for the workshop, a single ride ticket will be sufficient. (Complimentary 3-day Valley Metro passes will be available at workshop registration.) You are required to have proof of payment (a multi-day pass, or a single ride receipt) anytime you are on the train. Please show this to fare inspectors upon request.

Take the west-bound train toward downtown Phoenix (end-of-the-line destination 19th Ave/Montebello). Travel 6 stops to the Central and Van Buren Station in downtown Phoenix. Depart the train. Cross Central Avenue and continue 5 blocks east along Van Buren Street. (The train will be headed north when you get off of it). The Sheraton Hotel is on the corner of 5th Street and Van Buren.

The PHX Sky Train™

The PHX Sky Train™ will soon replace the existing PHX Airport Shuttle.

Stage One of the PHX Sky Train™ will transport Airport visitors and employees between the METRO light rail station at 44th and Washington Streets, east economy parking and Terminal 4, which serves 80 percent of Sky Harbor’s passengers. Construction will be complete in early 2013. Stage 1a, the extension to the remaining terminals, should be completed by early 2015. Stage Two, which will continue to the Rental Car Center, will be up and running in 2020.

A new gateway to Sky Harbor will be created at 44th Street and Washington. This station is just a short walk in an air conditioned pedestrian walkway from the 44th Street METRO light rail stop. The elevated train will help relieve traffic jams, reduce wait times, provide hassle-free travel in climate controlled vehicles and connect to the Valley’s light rail and bus systems. Equally important, the PHX Sky Train™ will accommodate our region’s future growth and be a welcomed addition to Sky Harbor’s renowned customer service.

The PHX Sky Train™, free to the public, will run 24-hours with predictable travel times—arriving at stations about every three minutes during peak periods and delivering passengers to their destinations within about five minutes of boarding.
