WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 30, 2008)––The 2008 American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) Annual Meeting and triennial EXPO – the largest public transportation expo in the world – will take place in San Diego, California, from October 6-8.  San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) will be the host for this year’s events, welcoming more than 15,000 transit professionals and more than 800 exhibitors to the San Diego Convention Center.

The 2008 EXPO will feature a full range of the latest public transportation products, services and technologies that enhance passengers’ experience, as well as enable transit systems to operate more cleanly and efficiently.  Recent years have seen a wide range of new technologies emerge that greatly enhance the ridership experience, and offer passengers more flexibility and convenience than ever for using public transportation.  Many of the exhibits and some educational sessions will focus on the technology, security, and energy and environment arenas.

“EXPO 2008 offers a unique opportunity for a first-hand look at the cutting-edge of public transportation,” said APTA President William W. Millar.  “The range of exhibits and educational sessions reflects an industry-wide commitment to provide the most advanced service we can to meet the needs of our rapidly growing ridership.”

See www.apta.com/expo2008  to register and learn more about the EXPO (more information at the end of the release).
