TCRP Announces New Transit Publication on Guard Rail Installation Guidelines

The Transit Cooperative Research (TCRP) recently released the following publication:

Report 71 – Volume 7 - Guidelines for Guard/Restraining Rail Installation:  This report explores two guard rail installation philosophies and the effects of vehicle types, wheel flange angle, wheel/rail friction coefficient, curve radius, cant deficiency, and track perturbation on flange climb derailments. The report offers guidance that transit agencies can follow in their wheel/rail maintenance for both transit rail cars and light rail vehicles.
