Winner of the 2010 Call Center Challenge Announced

MARTA Employee Wins for Second Year in a Row

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) is pleased to announce Iris Bernard-Glover as the 2010 Call Center Challenge winner.  For the second year in a row, in front of a live audience, a contestant from the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) was declared champion. Bernard-Glover, and 6 additional participants, competed in the February 23 finals.  Bernard-Glover has worked at MARTA as a Mobility Customer Care Representative for two years.

“Congratulations to MARTA employee Iris Bernard-Glover,” said APTA President William Millar.  “Good customer service is vital in the public transportation industry, and Bernard-Glover has shown great skill in handling customer relations.  She is a national model for all public transportation customer service employees.”

Sponsored by APTA, the Call Center Challenge spotlights the importance of customer service within public transportation call centers and recognizes those individuals who excel in providing top customer relations.  The finalists were judged on three random customer service scenarios and the contestant with the highest score was named the winner.  The competition was open to public transportation call center personnel in North America.

“MARTA is pleased to congratulate Iris Bernard-Glover for winning APTA’s Call Center Challenge Competition.  Thank you to APTA for recognizing her commitment to excellence with this prestigious award,” said MARTA General Manager/CEO Dr. Beverly A. Scott.  “At MARTA, we serve with pride, and Bernard-Glover’s work exemplifies our efforts to be a customer-focused system.  We thank her for leading the way to ensure that our customers receive first-class service each and every time.”
