The public transit industry’s very best rail employees face-off in a contest to test their customer service skills as they are challenged with a series of distinctive passenger-related customer service scenarios. The Rail Customer Service Challenge joins the traditional Rail Operator & Mechanic Competitions and is hosted by APTA's Marketing & Communications and International Rail Rodeo Committees.
The Rail Customer Service Challenge, held in conjunction with APTA’s International Rail Rodeo, recognizes and reward the critical function of serving the rider. The competition is open to all APTA member transit system rail station attendants and rail employees with face-to-face interaction with passengers, including ticket agents, station agents, and commuter rail conductors. A maximum of two contestants from each member transit system may enter the competition.
