The AdWheel Awards recognize the marketing and communications efforts of APTA’s members. Additionally, the annual awards competition creates a structure to share best practices and to raise the awareness of the value of public transportation marketing professionals within the industry.
We are excited to implement changes AdWheel beginning in 2016.
The call for entries for the 2016 AdWheel Awards is closed, and entrants will be notified of their status during the first full week of June. The 2017 call for entries will open in early Fall 2017.
What are the changes?
2016 is a transition year and only Grand Awards will be presented this year (in future years, First Place awards and Grand Awards will be presented).
In an effort to align the AdWheel Awards with organizational and industry strategic goals, awards will be presented in the following three (3) comprehensive campaign categories:
- Best Marketing and Communications Campaign to Increase Ridership or Sales
- Best Marketing and Communications Campaign to Highlight Transit Needs/Funding
- Best Marketing and Communications Educational Campaign (to improve safety or security, workforce development, general public information, courtesy, or other transit objective)
Note: A campaign is an effort with multiple components that are used together to achieve your goal.
How were the changes made?
Changes to the AdWheel Awards program were based on a survey of APTA Marketing and Communications Committee members conducted in February 2015 and feedback received from a webinar in June 2015. A plan for changes to AdWheel was adopted at the committee’s July 2015 meeting. The plan was subsequently reviewed at the committee meeting in October 2015 and presented to attendees in February 2016 at the Marking & Communication Workshop.
