Participants will attend a three day pre-conference workshop preceding the 2016 APTA Rail Conference in Phoenix, AZ. The workshop will feature training and skill building in goal-setting, communications, project management, financial administration, career development, as well as round-table sessions addressing transit industry challenges.
Participants will engage in various dialogues with industry leadership and benefit from a customized industry tour.
Participants are highly encouraged to attend the 2016 APTA Rail Conference and related APTA committee meetings to better understand and appreciate the scope and impact of the transit industry.
Small groups of mentors and mentees will communicate regularly over a 10-month period, discussing assigned and group topics leading to, and ending the year with, a presentation and formal project. Class participants will also lead webinars, share industry experiences, best practices, and lessons throughout the year.
Capstone Session and Graduation
The Early Career Program will close with group projects and class presentations. The year will culminate with a graduation ceremony at the 2017 APTA Bus and Paratransit Conference in Reno, NV, May of 2017.
Members of the Early Career Program Class of 2017 will receive complimentary registration for the 2016 Rail Conference and the 2017 Bus and Paratransit Conference.
