In this position, you will
implement projects that enhance transit communications and operations technologies
oversee the planning, analysis, research, engineering, negotiation, budgeting and cost tracking of complex projects
develop specifications and deploy transit-related projects such as radio systems, satellite, wi-fi, GPS, fare box integration and similar mega-projects used in the fleet of fixed route, express, bus rapid transit and contracted transportation service buses.
Requirements include:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in business administration, project management, public administration, or related technical field with 7-10 yrs experience managing transit projects (3 yrs of which are senior level). Advanced degree preferred. Also requires ability to facilitate meetings and supervise staff and consultants. Knowledge of technical/mechanical requirements used in public transit is desirable.

The Broward County Department of Transportation located in beautiful South Florida at Pompano Beach, 12 miles north of downtown Ft.
Lauderdale is seeking to fill the position of Transit Manager Service Development. The position reports to the Director will manage the Service Development unit of 20 professional, technical, and clerical staff responsible for Long and Short range planning, data collection, developing routes, and scheduling service, and special projects. The unit maintains staffing and budget information for the BCT Bus System, and coordinates with the MPO staff on various study efforts.
The position has a pay range of $63,184 to $103,621and an excellent benefits package.
The Broward County Transportation systems serve
$1.8 million residents and a significant number of visitors annually over 481 sq. miles. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in transportation, business, or other field with an AICP certification and Master's degree preferred; excellent verbal and written communications skills; strong analytical and technical planning skills; and six (6) or more years of high level transportation planning and scheduling work experience. Some supervisory experience preferred. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of additional education requirements. Must pass background/criminal investigation and pre-employment physical with drug screening.

The successful candidate for this position reports to the Chief Operations Officer, and will lead and control the management of the SFMTA Bus Operations Division, including maintenance, transportation, and vehicle appearance / servicing; direct the efforts of the subordinate staff to meet or exceed SFMTA’s goals for performance, efficiency, safety and quality; provide overall management of the bus and trolley fleet of nearly 900 vehicles; oversee approximately 2,170 employees, including operations support positions and transit operators, and manage an operating budget of more than $75 million per year.
