DIRECTOR, CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (CIP) (080702)
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), a leader in the transit industry, seeks an individual responsible for the Office of Capital Improvement Program (CIP) in the Office of Engineering Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for effective organization and staffing, developing and implementing programs for the planning and execution of the Authority's Capital Improvement Program. The candidate's performance will be measured on the effective management of assigned staff and the effective management of resources dedicated to the Authority to develop CIP projects which meet the needs of the offices and ultimately the Authority.

The Transit Fleet Services Manger is responsible for management and oversight of Torrance Transit System's facilities and fleet maintenance, and fleet procurement. This position is a vital part of the management team working to accomplish our mission to provide safe, cost-effective and reliable service to our public.
This Manager position oversees a fleet of 53 vehicles, a budget of $2.8M, and a team of 20. Two direct reports are a supervisor and clerical. This position requires the availability to respond to emergencies 24/7.
Essential position duties are to ensure division day-to-day compliance with all applicable rules and regulations pertinent to the operations and personnel matters and to develop and implement fiscally sound short and long-term plans for varied projects, inclusive but not limited to vehicle acquisition, retrofitting, or refurbishment.
Candidate Profile
Five years of responsible journey level experience in the servicing and repairing of buses, automobiles, trucks, or similar automotive equipment; and three years of supervisory experience is required. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess strong personnel and financial management, administration of labor contracts, working knowledge of shop safety methods and laws and warehouse procedures, and an ability to accomplish goals with other divisions, departments, agencies, suppliers, vendors and the public. A BA or BS degree in a related field is preferred; however, experience which demonstrates substantial knowledge and abilities pertinent to specific job functions may be substituted for the education requirements. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), located in northern California is the largest transit agency in the Bay Area and the seventh largest system in the United States. It currently carries more than 200 million riders annually with a multi-modal operation of over 1045 vehicles that include historic streetcars, modern light rail vehicles, diesel buses, alternative fuel vehicles, electric trolley coaches and the world famous cable cars. On behalf of our client, we are conducting a national search of transit professionals with system safety experience for the position of Chief Safety Officer / Deputy Director of Transportation Safety.
The successful candidate for this position reports to the Director of Safety, Security & Enforcement, and will be responsible for the overall direction and administration of all programs in occupation safety and health (OSHA) and the transportation system safety of the SFMTA.
Will also

EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate must possess extensive knowledge of operational safety, safety engineering, quality assurance, workers’ compensation, loss control and management principles along with a through knowledge with rapid rail and bus systems and extensive knowledge in the principles of transportation, transit procedures and equipment, including, vehicles, facilities, power, signal, communication, and control systems and have at least six (6) years of executive experience in industrial safety or other safety-related professions.
