Peter A. Cannito, president of MTA Metro-North Railroad since 1999, has announced his intention to retire from the post in July. He is the third president in the railroad’s 25-year history, and its longest tenured president.
Cannito chairs the APTA Security Affairs Steering Committee and the Standards Development and Oversight Council, and co-chairs the Procurement Steering Committee. He served from 2000 to 2003 as vice chair-commuter and intercity rail.
