Report: Transportation Funding Needs at ‘Crisis Stage’

This Week in Passenger Transport

March 24, 2008

A consortium of six governmental associations has released a report showing how all levels of government must provide increased financial resources to help the nation meet its transportation needs, which are at a crisis stage.

The report, titled Financing Transportation in the 21st Century-An Intergovernmental Perspective,” was released March 12 by the Intergovernmental Forum on Transportation Finance, convened by the National Academy of Public Administration on behalf of the National Governors Association, National Association of Counties, National League of Cities, National Conference of State Legislators, Council of State Governments, and International City/County Managers Association. Mort Downey, chairman of PB Consult Inc, and a former U.S. deputy secretary of transportation, chairs the forum.
