Deputy Chief Operations Officer
A native of California, Alva
Carrasco has worked in public transit for more than 20 years. She began
her transit career in administration and progressively moved up in
responsibility over the years. She obtained a Master’s Degree in
Transportation Management from San Jose State University, Mineta Transportation
Institute. Alva has worked in a variety of roles
including operational, supervisory, project management, and executive
roles throughout her career. She is currently the Deputy Chief Operating
Officer for Sacramento Regional Transit District.
Alva's hobbies include reading,
traveling, yoga, hiking, practicing her golf swing, concerts, museums, and is a
foodie and wine enthusiast.
She currently serves as Vice President of the Board of
Directors for Latinos in Transit. She is an APTA
Leadership and ENO Transit Senior Executive Seminar alumnus.
She enjoys raising funds for
scholarships, mentoring young adults, and encouraging students to
pursue careers in transit.
