Miami-Dade Transit in Florida launched an aggressive public awareness campaign prior to the November 2002 general election and succeeded in obtaining voter approval of a half-cent sales tax to expand transit services. The campaign included 80 neighborhood meetings, posters, bus decals, brochures, and other publications. After several previous attempts to secure local funding for transit, this campaign got the public's overwhelming approval and passed by a 2 to 1 margin.
