Spokane, Wash.--The Buses International Association announces three new international board members: Georges Bourelle, president of Prevost Car Inc. of Quebec, Canada; Erling Saether, managing director of NOR-WAY Bussekspress, Oslo, Norway; and Valter Gomes Pinto, director of Marcopolo S.A., Caxias do Sul, Brazil.
The BIA, which is directed by William A. (Bill) Luke, brings together professionals interested in exchanging information and ideas about bus transportation throughout the world. It publishes the Buses International newsletter, which reports on urban and regional bus operations and covers world bus industry events, meetings, and exhibitions. The organization also assists members traveling abroad with contacts and opportunities to visit various bus operations and manufacturers.
Luke founded and edited Bus Ride magazine for 33 years, and is being inducted this year into the APTA Hall of Fame for his outstanding contributions to transit.
