Netherlands Transit Officials Visit APTA Headquarters

Andre Testa, CEO of the Amsterdam Transit Authority Member of the Netherlands Transit Delegation

A 16-member study team composed mainly of chief executive officers and senior managers from MOBIS, the Netherlands public transit association headed by Andre Testa, CEO of the Amsterdam Transit Authority, became the first overseas delegation to visit APTA’s new headquarters in Washington. The Nov. 16 briefing by an APTA team provided the visitors with an advocacy, marketing, and operations overview. Carolyn Biggins of Ride On in Montgomery County, Md., and Mary Jane Dye of DASH in Alexandria, Va., described their suburban systems’ community outreach programs. The Dutch delegation, which represented some the country’s largest urban systems, was on a week-long fact-finding mission visiting APTA member properties in Boston, New York, and New Jersey, in addition to Washington.
