 Manager - Web & Database Support

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) seeks a Manager, Web & Database Support to provide support, training, and project management for our web-based platforms. The position requires strong customer service and communication skills and previous association experience is preferred.


BASIC FUNCTION:
The Manager, Web & Database Support reports directly to the Senior Director of Information Technology. The Web Manager’s primary role is to provide support, training, and project management for the web-based platforms of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). These platforms include APTA’s website content management system (CMS), association management system (AMS), community platform, and events app.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide technical support to staff on APTA’s web-based platforms. This support will primarily be provided via help desk tickets;
  • Provide training to staff on APTA’s web-based platforms. This training may be provided in a one-off context with an individual staff member or may be provided in periodic topical training available to all staff;
  • Perform regular maintenance and monitoring of APTA’s web-based platforms;
  • Maintain staff-focused documentation on best practices and policies for using APTA’s web-based platforms;
  • Maintain IT-oriented documentation on maintenance and troubleshooting tips for APTA’s web-based platforms;
  • Provide project management for change requests to APTA’s web-based platforms. This will involve collecting requirements from staff, assessing feasibility, timeline, and budget with a developer (on staff) or a 3rd party vendor, and providing regular status updates to staff;
  • Other duties as assigned.
MEASURES OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Timely and accurate responses to help desk tickets;
  • Clear and concise communication with staff on ticket resolution;
  • Steadily improving staff abilities and understanding of APTA’s web-based platforms due to training provided;
  • Change requests to APTA’s web-based platforms completed successfully in a timely and cost-effective manner;
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with three or more years’ experience;
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written;
  • Excellent customer service and project management skills;
  • Well organized and uses initiative to solve problems proactively;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the following technologies:
    • ​Association management systems (NetForum preferred)
    • Content management systems (WordPress preferred)
    • Community platform (Higher Logic preferred)
    • Events app (Results Direct preferred)
    • Association experience preferred.
