The committee scope includes all aspects of transit bus operational safety including operator training, safety supervision, and the development of a Bus Safety Management Program. Members of this committee include Safety Officers, Risk Managers, Transportation & Maintenance Supervisors, Union Officers, Bus Operators, and others with an interest in improving Bus Safety. The committee meets collectively twice a year, once at the annual APTA Bus Conference and again at the APTA Midyear Safety Conference. There are also virtual meetings that are called to inform or discuss specific safety topics affecting Bus transportation.

The committee meets annually at the Bus conference and holds periodic conference calls to conduct committee work.
