AdWheel Awards Exhibit

Booth 321, Convention Center

The AdWheel Awards Exhibit is the perfect place to gather new marketing and communications ideas. Be sure to visit the exhibit and see the best in public transportation marketing, advertising, and communications. All entries in this year’s AdWheel Awards competition are showcased and this year’s exhibit features a theater where you can take a break from the EXPO floor and watch television commercials from some of transit’s most creative marketers. Be sure to attend the AdWheel Awards Ceremony on Monday, October 3, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in La Nouvelle, Second Level in the Convention Center to see who comes out on top in this year’s competition.

Name badges are required for all business sessions, committee meetings, meal functions, receptions, technical tours, shuttle buses, and EXPO 2011. Please cooperate by wearing your badge at all times.

As a courtesy to other attendees, please turn off cell phones and other personal mobile devices during committee meetings and business sessions.

Coat & Bag Check

Don’t want to lug your bag, coat, and/or luggage around the EXPO floor? Just drop them off at the coat and bag check located in the Hall D Lobby in the Convention Center and staffed during the following times:

Monday, October 3 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday, October 4 7:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, October 5 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Community Service Days

APTA thanks all members for the overwhelming support for the Community Service Days in New Orleans. We have over 300 volunteers signed up to help the St. Bernard Project, a disaster recovery organization who partners closely with the United Way to rebuild homes for families still living in FEMA trailers six years after Hurricane Katrina.

Though all volunteer slots are filled, you can be a part of bringing New Orleans families home by making a donation to support the St. Bernard Project.

Daily Prize Drawings

Visit The APTA Center daily and fill out your entry form for each of the drawings. Dress Code

To enhance the down-to-work nature and purpose of the conference, the organizing committee encourages a business casual dress code.

AICP Certification Maintenance Credits

All professional planners who are members of the American Planning Association’s (APA) professional institute, the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), are required to earn a total of 32 Certification Maintenance (CM) credits every two years to maintain their AICP credentials. For more information about the AICP CM program, visit

APTA is awarding AICP CM credits for sessions tailored to fit the needs of new and experienced planning officials. As of press time, APTA is waiting for APA’s approval of the targeted sessions submitted. Please check back for details.

For your convenience and to help you navigate the Convention Center, elevators are located in the following areas:

  • Hall D Lobby - located under the sign for Atrium Restaurant
  • Hall E Lobby - located at entrance by escalator
  • Hall H Lobby - located directly across, but street side (near glass doors)
  • Hall I - 1 Lobby - located directly across, but street side (near glass doors)

The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) has a general information booth where RTA staff is available to answer questions you may have regarding local sites, restaurants, social and cultural activities, and to provide transportation information and maps.

Annual Meeting registrants and their registered guests should be sure to pick up their complimentary transit passes, good for all RTA services during the conference, fun destinations brochures, and other goodies. The host information booth is open the same hours as APTA registration.

International Attendee Lounge

Room 256-257, Second Level, Convention Center

The International Attendee Lounge, a full-service business center, is available to all Annual Meeting and EXPO international registrants from Sunday through Wednesday. The lounge offers private meeting rooms, phone and fax lines, internet service, translation services (by request only), and more. International attendees will find the lounge an inviting and open space in which to relax and conduct business.

The lounge is open the following times:

Tuesday, October 4 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Lunch at the Convention Center

When registering for the Annual Meeting and Bus Technical, Maintenance & Procurement Workshop, you will receive $8 discount coupons for lunch at EXPO 2011 on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. The coupons are valid at all EXPO restaurants and convention center food outlets.
