AdWheel Awards Exhibit

All entries in this year’s AdWheel Awards competition will be showcased at a special AdWheel Exhibit in the Continental Ballroom Foyer, Lobby Level in the Hilton Chicago. Be sure to visit the exhibit and see the best in public transportation marketing, advertising, and communications. The exhibit is the perfect place to gather new marketing and communications ideas.

Don’t miss the AdWheel Awards Ceremony on Monday, September 30, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the International Ballroom, Second Floor in the Hilton Chicago, to see who comes out on top in this year’s competition.

American Public Transportation Foundation (APTF)

Founded in 1988, the American Public Transportation Foundation’s (APTF) mission is to increase and retain the number of young professionals entering public transportation as a career by providing scholarships to deserving students – our future leaders. Since its inception, the APTF has awarded over 125 scholarships. The 2013 APTF scholarship recipients are attending this year’s annual meeting. Please join the APTF Board of Directors in congratulating these students on their academic and professional accomplishments. The APTF’s commitment to investing in tomorrow’s transit industry leaders is second to none. During several aspects of the Annual Meeting, you will learn more about this year’s recipients and the Foundation.


Name badges are required for all business sessions, committee meetings, meal functions, receptions, technical tours, and shuttle buses. Please cooperate by wearing your badge at all times.

Cell Phones

As a courtesy to other attendees, please turn off cell phones and other personal mobile devices during committee meetings and business sessions.

Chicago Cultural Attractions

The 'Windy City,' as Chicago is known is the birthplace of modern architecture. It is a city renowned for its diverse collection of museums and galleries, such as the belowved Shedd Aquarium and esteemed Art Institute of Chicago. While at the Annual Meeting, be sure to take time to vicit the 'City by the Lake.'

Committee Meetings

Committee meetings are open to all interested APTA members. Members are encouraged to particpate and become invloved.

Continuing Education Hours & Certification Maintenance Credits

APTA is awarding certification maintenance (CM) credits through the American Planning Association’s professional institute, the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), for sessions tailored to the needs of new and experienced planners. In addition, APTA is an approved provider of continuing education hours (CEHs) through the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for sessions tailored to architects education requirements.

Host Information Desk

Chicago Transit Authority will have a general information desk in the APTA registration area, Boulevard A, Second Floor of the Hilton Chicago. CTA staff will be available Saturday through Wednesday to answer questions you may have regarding local sites, restaurants, social, and cultural activities, and to provide transportation information and maps. The host information desk will be open the same hours as the APTA registration desk.

Leadership APTA

The 2013 APTA Annual Meeting welcomes the members of the Leadership APTA Class of 2013 who will be honored Tuesday afternoon at a special program featuring their leadership project presentations and  graduation ceremonies. This year's leadership project topics include: Performance Measurement; Cyber Security; Mega Events; Procurement; and Board Member Support. Class members also will deliver their presentation highlights at a number of APTA Committee meetings. We also welcome incoming members of the Leadership APTA Class of 2014 who will be recognized at Tuesday afternoon's Leadership APTA program.


Moderators/Speakers & AV Preview Room

Room 4C, Fourth Floor in the Hilton Chicago has been reserved daily from Sunday through Wednesday. Moderators are encouraged to use this room to meet informally with their speakers to go over last-minute details prior to the start of their sessions.

The room is equipped with a LCD projector. Moderators and speakers may use this room any time during the conference to preview their PowerPoint presentations. Technical assistance will be available by contacting the APTA registration desk.

Higher Education Student Ambassador Program -- The Next Generation

Continuing APTA’s mission, students from higher educational institutions – including
universities, community colleges, technical institutes, and vocational schools – are encouraged to participate in APTA’s meetings, conferences, and other educational offerings. Students have a unique opportunity to network with a variety of transit professionals.
