Competition Date, Time, Location & Travel Information
The roadeo takes place on Sunday, May 3, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Billy Bob’s Parking Lot, 201 Stockyards Blvd., Fort Worth,
Shuttle service will be provided between the Worthington Renaissance Hotel (only) and the roadeo site. The Roadeo shuttle will be available every 15 minutes between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday, competition day, the service begins at 7:30 a.m. for spectators. Those staying in the Omni Fort Worth Hotel will need to use Molly the Trolley’s service to the Worthington Hotel to board the shuttle buses to the Roadeo site. Molly the Trolley will be available early to accommodate spectators, with service available every 10 minutes between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Maps and directions will be available at the roadeo and conference registration desks.
Bus operators and mechanics from transit systems across North America participate in separate competitions, which showcase their skills in safe driving and vehicle maintenance. The Operator Competition includes events such as pre-trip inspection, judgment stops, turning, and clearing obstacles. The Maintainer Competition requires skills in the identification of defects in engine, transmission, brakes, multiplex, doors, and HVAC modules.

Roadeo Training Workshops/Conference Sessions
Not only are all the traditional conference sessions and activities open to the roadeo participants, but there are six training workshops scheduled exclusively for roadeo contestants. The workshop topics are: National Transit Institute’s (NTI) four-part Operator Assaults course; Metro Transit Minneapolis’ Thriving and Surviving (fitness for duty, etc.); Voith Turbo’s Engine Oil Analysis; Thermo King’s IntelligAIRE III; and USSC’s Fire Suppression.

Customer Service Challenge
For the ninth year, the Customer Service Challenge joins the traditional Operator and Mechanic Competitions. The event, scheduled on Monday, May 4, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., allows bus operators to test their customer service skills in some distinctive customer interface scenarios.
