Accessible Transportation

All SEPTA fixed-route buses and regional rail cars are ADA accessible and more than 100 stations and transportation centers are fully accessible.

Airport Transportation Options

The SEPTA Airport Regional Rail line provides a direct link from each of the arrival terminals to Center City Philadelphia and Market East Station, which is across the street from the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown.

Business Members

APTA’s Business Members are hosting a networking and resource room,Room 405, Level 4 in the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, during the conference for conversation and connections. In addition,
a Business Member Networking Breakfast will be held on Monday, June 3 in the Independence Ballroom, Level 3 in the Philadelphia Marriott Hotel.

Cell Phones

As a courtesy to other attendees, please turn off cell phones and other personal mobile devices during committee meetings and business sessions.

Committee Meetings

Committee meetings are open to all interested APTA members. Members are encouraged to participate and become involved.

Complimentary Transit Pass

When you register for the conference and visit the host information desk in the APTA registration area in the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, you'll receive a complimentary transit pass good on all SEPTA services from May 29 through June 6.

Continuing Education

APTA plans to offer AICP CM credits for sessions tailored to the needs of new and experienced planning officials.

Dress Code

The organizing committee encourages a business casual dress code at ALL events.

Early Career Program 

APTA will launch its new Early Career Program in Philadelphia prior to its 2013 Rail Conference. The year-long program provides public and private sector professionals, still early in their careers, with the skills, knowledge, insights, and networks needed to grow and succeed. The program includes skill-building workshops, transit site visits, virtual sessions, and a mentor program. Participants will conclude the educational program in May, 2014 at APTA’s Bus & Paratransit Conference. Please welcome members wearing ribbons noted “Early Career Program.” 

Future Meeting Dates

The next Rail Conference will be held on June 15-18, 2014, in Montreal, QC.

Host Information Desk

SEPTA will have an information desk in the APTA registration area, Foyer, Level 4, in the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown. SEPTA staff will answer questions you may have regarding local sites, restaurants, social and cultural activities, and provide transportation information and maps. The host information desk is open the same hours as the APTA registration desk.

Mid-Managers Magnification Program 

APTA recognizes the public transportation industry’s need to develop managers and supervisors holding mid-level positions. This year at our major conferences, we are providing a variety of workshops, sessions, and learning opportunities specifically designed to advance the skills of professionals at this level.

Look for the Mid-Level Managers Magnification Program logo throughout the program for events that may interest and benefit mid-level conference attendees

Admission to all scheduled activities requires a name badge. Please register and pick up your badge upon arrival. The registration desk, located the Foyer, Level 4 in the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, is open the following times:

Saturday, June 1 1 – 5 p.m.
Sunday, June 2 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Monday, June 3 7 a.m. – 4 a.m.
Tuesday, June 4 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Wednesday, June 5 8:30 - 11 a.m.

Speakers & Moderators

Room 406, Level 4 in the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown has been reserved daily, from Sunday through Wednesday, for moderators to meet informally with their speakers to go over last-minute details prior to the start of their sessions. In addition, Moderator/Speaker Guidelines and APTA's PowerPoint template are available from the link below.

Student Involvement

Encouraging student involvement is an important goal for APTA's conferences and meetings. Currently enrolled students can register free for this conference, which includes admission to educational/technical sessions, the International Rail Rodeo, and technical tours. In addition, two sessions are specifically directed to students: Interactive Presentations and Student Ambassador Forum.

Technical Papers

Each paid registrant will receive online access to the conference technical papers as part of the conference registration fee. This added benefit, available after the conference, affords registrants universal access to some of the most important technical research advancing the industry presented at the conference.
