The purpose of the Standards Development Oversight Council is to set overall direction for the development and maintenance of standards in the public transportation industry; establish priority programs among APTA’s modal standards development committees; coordinate standards development activities among these modal groups, and other organizations outside APTA, including the federal government; develop and manage a funding mechanism to support APTA’s standards development activities; and promote the support for and use of standards in the public transportation industry.

Committee membership is open to all employees of APTA members in good standing, and participation in one or more committees/subcommittees is encouraged and welcomed.
Except for those committees listed as “by appointment only,” you may join a committee or subcommittee by submitting the Committee Interest Form. Upon receipt of your request, you will be added to the committee/subcommittee and contacted by the staff advisor.
