 Timeline

Class of 2018 Timeline

  • Thursday, March 30, 2017: Application Deadline. All materials must be submitted online no later than 11:59 PM (EST). Only complete submissions will be evaluated.
  • April 19, 2017: ELP Class of 2018 selections made.
  • End of May, 2017: Webinar/conference call meeting with the Emerging Leaders Program Class of 2018, program leadership, and staff.
  • May 26, 2017: $2,500 tuition payment due at APTA.
  • June 8 - 10, 2017: Class kick-off in Baltimore, MD. Introductions to Emerging Leaders Program leadership, mentors, APTA members, and senior management. Customized workshop: skill building sessions, time with industry mentors, and a site visit will take place. 
  • June 11 - 14, 2017: APTA Rail Conference in Baltimore, MD. We encourage attendance at APTA committee meetings, conference sessions, and events to gain an appreciation of the full scope of the industry. We recognize that participants may not be able to attend the entire conference. If you can only attend part of it, we highly recommend the first few days.
  • July 2017 – April 2018: Mentors and mentees meet on a monthly basis, online and in-person, to discuss a broad range of industry and career development topics. These relationships will develop your awareness and knowledge of the  public transportation industry and help facilitate your career advancement.
  • September 2017 – April 2018: Webinar sessions. Three or four class members will deliver online presentations and discussions sharing what they have learned through their mentors and groups. The class is expected to take advantage of any related, extracurricular programs.  
  • May 2018: Capstone session. Workshops will showcase the class's work and lessons learned from the monthly mentor calls. 
  • May 2018: APTA Bus and Paratransit Conference in Tampa, FL. The class will be honored at a graduation program. Members will also have the opportunity to deliver presentations during the graduation ceremony.

Class of 2019 Timeline

  • Monday February 5, 2018: Application Deadline. All materials must be submitted online no later than 11:59 PM (EST). Only complete submissions will be evaluated.
  • Week of March 5, 2018: ELP Class of 2019 selections made.
  • ​End of March: All applicants notified of selection.
  • May, 2018: Webinar/conference call meeting with the Emerging Leaders Program Class of 2019, program leadership, and staff.
  • May 1, 2018: $3,500 tuition payment due at APTA.
  • June 7 - 9, 2018: Class kick-off in Denver, CO. Introductions to Emerging Leaders Program leadership, mentors, APTA members, and senior management. Customized workshop: skill building sessions, time with industry mentors, and a site visit will take place.
