Brent Boyd is a Senior Transportation Planner and Rail Operations
Analyst at San Diego Metropolitan Transit System. He currently
manages the planning, scheduling, and performance monitoring functions for the
53-mile light rail system that carries over 90,000 weekday passengers.
Other responsibilities include coordinating station planning for the
Trolley (light rail) Renewal Project and for the latest extension of the system;
planning, designing, and coordinating bus operations during weekend shutdowns of
rail during the Renewal Project; and revamping light rail operations data
collection and reporting procedures.
Previous responsibilities at MTS have included service operations
planning for local bus services and new Bus Rapid Transit lines, development of
Title VI reports, and the management of both grant applications and the agency’s
use of GIS software.
Brent has 15 years of transit experience, with previous work at
Transportation Management and Design, Inc., Los Angeles County Metropolitan
Transportation Authority, and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
He is also a member of the Leadership APTA Class of 2014.
Brent is a two-time graduate of UCLA with a master’s degree in urban
planning and a bachelor’s degree in Geography. In his spare time, he enjoys
exploring national parks, kayaking in the waters of San Diego, playing
basketball and softball, and cheering on his Bruins, Padres, and Chargers (as
long as they stay in San Diego).
