Fact Book
The Public Transportation Fact Book, published annually, contains national aggregate statistical data covering all aspects of the transit industry in the United States and Canada. Major sections include an overview of U.S. transit facts, transit finances and operating statistics by modes of travel, transit vehicle characteristics and deliveries, facts and numbers relating to federal grants and the Federal Transit Act.
Ridership Data
The Public Transportation Ridership Report is a quarterly report of transit passenger ridership for U.S. and Canadian transit agencies.
Fare Database
APTA’s Public Transportation Fare Database is an annual report of major elements of fare structures by mode for U.S. and Canadian transit agencies. The report includes fixed-route adult base fares, surcharges, common fare payment options, special categorized passenger fares, and demand response (or Paratransit) passenger fares.
Infrastructure Database
The Public Transportation Infrastructure Database is a report listing major transit infrastructure in the U.S. and Canada. The report includes data on stations, stops and parking for all modes, and information on rail systems.
National Transit Database Tables
The National Transit Database (NTD) is produced by the Federal Transit Administration. These data cover all public transportation agencies receiving funding from the Urbanized Area Formula Program (5307) or Rural Formula Program (5311).
Transit Funding Data
Information and primers on FAST Act Transit Funding Provisions, MAP-21 Transit Funding, and APTA Background reports on transit financing.
Vehicle Database
APTA’s Public Transportation Vehicle Database is an annual report of revenue vehicles by fleet characteristics. The database includes both U.S. and Canadian transit agencies. It includes summary tables which group vehicles by mode and list by manufacturer, size, year built, and equipment. A special section on the new vehicle market includes orders, planned orders, prior year deliveries, and vehicle costs. Reports are published annually.
