The heart of APTA’s mission is advocating for our members to increase funding for public transportation and for the adoption of pro-transit policies. APTA is your voice in Washington. We speak for the public transportation industry with Congress, the Executive Branch, the media and the public at large. We work with our members to develop surface transportation authorization and other legislative recommendations and consensus comments on proposed regulations, guidance and standards.

Since the inception of the program 20 years ago, nearly 500 professionals have graduated from Leadership APTA, an esteemed program designed to develop the next generation of public transit leaders.

Public transportation professionals early in their careers discover the skills, knowledge, insights and networks to succeed with APTA’s Emerging Leaders Program.

Through a variety of workshops presented at APTA conferences, the Mid-Level Managers Program advances the skills of public transit professionals at this level.
