Advancing the Transit Agenda

Strategic Advocacy at the 2025 Winter Legislative Meeting

The APTA Winter Legislative Meeting, held on December 4, 2025, at Union Station in Washington, DC, served as a strategic gathering for hundreds of transit industry leaders, elected officials, and government stakeholders. The primary focus was advocating for sustained and increased federal investment in public transportation, particularly as the industry faced a looming January 30 budget deadline. APTA Chair Leanne Redden and CEO Paul Skoutelas, emphasized that robust transit funding is a cornerstone of American economic competitiveness, job creation, and modern innovation.

The event featured a series of high-level discussions and keynote addresses from influential leaders such as FTA Administrator Marcus Molinaro and House T&I Committee Ranking Member Rick Larsen. The meeting also marked a significant milestone with the signing of a three-year MOU between APTA and the Eno Center for Transportation to bolster workforce development. The day concluded with technical updates on bus manufacturing and ballot initiatives, followed by a holiday reception on Capitol Hill to solidify relationships between transit advocates and policymakers.
