Resiliency

WHAT IS RESILIENCY?

Resiliency is a way to make our communities more livable by integrating and balancing economic, social, and environmental needs.

Resiliency, preserving the environment, being socially responsible and maintaining economic vitality, with an overall contribution to quality of life, is integral to what we do and what we provide as the public transportation industry. At its core, it’s about practices that make good business sense and good environmental sense.

Social

Encouraging employee professional development, health, safety, and corporate stewardship and promoting community-based strategies for land use and transit-oriented development design.

Environmental

Employing practices in design and capital construction, such as using sustainable building materials, recycled materials, and renewable energy sources to make facilities as ‘green’ as possible.

Economical

Employing practices in operations and maintenance such as reducing hazardous waste, increasing fuel efficiency, creating more efficient lighting and using energy-efficient propulsion systems.
