Transportation Advocacy Day

October 22, 2025 Washington, DC

Uniting Industry Voices for Federal Transit Investment

APTA Fly-In connects CEOs and business leaders with Congress

About the Event: The APTA Legislative Advocacy Fly-In brought together a strategic coalition of public transit agency CEOs, board members, and private-sector business leaders to engage directly with key congressional decision-makers. By facilitating meetings with influential legislators such as Senator John Curtis and Representative Jasmine Crockett, the event humanized technical budget requests and demonstrated a unified industry front. These interactions showed that transit funding isn’t just a municipal concern, but a shared priority for both government agencies and the private companies that build and maintain American infrastructure.

The event focused on the practical economic returns of federal investment, highlighting that $1 billion in transit funding supports approximately 50,000 jobs and yields a five-to-one economic return. Beyond requesting $43.3 billion for transit and rail, the delegation advocated for statutory reforms to cut red tape and accelerate project delivery. This approach shifted the conversation from simple spending to long-term efficiency, emphasizing that a well-funded, streamlined transit system is a fundamental requirement for a competitive national economy.
