APTA’s transit agency members are public entities responsible for planning, operating, and maintaining public transportation systems that serve communities across the North America. These agencies provide essential mobility through bus, rail, ferry, paratransit, and on-demand services, connecting people to jobs, education, healthcare, and daily needs. APTA’s business members include private sector companies that design, build, supply, and support public transportation systems and services. These members partner with transit agencies to deliver innovation, technology, and expertise that improve safety, efficiency, and rider experience.

APTA’s transit management company members are private organizations that contract with public agencies to operate, manage, and maintain transit services. These companies bring specialized expertise in areas such as operations, maintenance, safety, workforce management, and performance optimization across bus, rail, paratransit, and multimodal systems. As APTA members, transit management companies collaborate with public agencies and industry partners to share best practices, support innovation, and help deliver reliable, cost-effective, and customer-focused transportation services.

APTA’s governmental agency members includes local and regional government agencies responsible for the planning and/or development of public transit systems. These agencies collaborate through APTA to share knowledge, align policy, and strengthen public transit outcomes for the communities they serve.

APTA’s affiliate members represent a diverse group of organizations and individuals that support and influence public transportation, including advocacy groups, academic institutions, consultants, labor organizations, and emerging mobility providers. These members contribute unique perspectives and expertise, strengthening collaboration and advancing innovation across the transit industry.
