Urgent Action Needed
Submit Specific APTA Recommendations to the DOT Docket

On August 20, APTA filed comments to the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Request for Information on the Surface Transportation Authorization (DOT RFI). APTA’s letter includes an enclosure that reflects the draft APTA Surface Transportation Authorization Recommendations and funding tables, as approved by the Legislative Committee through June 29. The letter and APTA’s Surface Transportation Authorization Recommendations outline a strategic framework to strengthen American competitiveness, create family-wage jobs, and foster innovation in public transportation.

We strongly urge you to submit comments to the DOT RFI Docket (Docket No. DOT-OST–2025-0468) that echo APTA’s recommendation to enact a long-term Surface Transportation Authorization Act that builds upon current investment levels for public transit and passenger rail to drive economic growth, increase opportunities, and foster innovation. Specifically, APTA urges the Administration and Congress to provide $138 billion for public transit and $130 billion for passenger rail over five years. We also encourage you to submit any APTA policy recommendations that are important to you to the Docket.

Comments are due by Monday, September 8.
