On February 10, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure marked up the Budget Reconciliation Title and considered dozens of amendments to the Title.

The T&I Committee’s Budget Reconciliation Title provides $30 billion of COVID-19 emergency funding for public transit and $1.5 billion of emergency funding for Amtrak.

Members of the T&I Committee offered 18 separate amendments to eliminate, cut, transfer, or restrict the emergency funding for public transit and Amtrak. APTA strongly opposed each of these amendments and all of amendments failed. Please click here to view a Summary of the Public Transit and Passenger Rail Amendments.

The T&I Committee passed its Budget Reconciliation Title by a bipartisan vote of 39-25. APTA urges you to thank (including on social media) the Members of the T&I Committee who supported the bill. Please click here to view the House T&I Committee Roster.

Next week, the House Committee on the Budget will compile the Budget Reconciliation titles of each of the committees (including the T&I Committee Budget Reconciliation Title) and mark up the combined bill. Please click here to view the House Budget Committee Roster.

According to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the U.S. House of Representatives may consider the Budget Reconciliation bill the week of February 22.
