MTA NEW YORK CITY TRANSIT – INDUSTRY REVIEW R262 RAILCAR TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

SSE#: 514808

DUE DATE: 7/30/25

TITLE: NYCT Industry Review for R262 Railcar Technical.

MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) is developing new Railcar Technical Specifications for the purchase of 1,140 cars configured in 5-car units to operate on NYCT’s A Division (numbered lines), replacing the R62 and R62A fleets.

The purpose of this informal Industry Review (IR) is to assist NYCT in finalizing its Technical Specification (TS) for the purchase of the R262 cars, but more importantly to solicit feedback on the opportunity to include innovative, service-proven technologies or emerging technologies already in use in global metro systems onto the R262 fleet. NYCT is particularly focused on reducing total cost of ownership and improving system standardization. This IR feedback will facilitate NYCT obtaining information that will assist in the acquisition of the R262 cars, that can offer benefits such as life cycle cost savings, improvements in performance, reliability, and the customer experience.

The R262 TS is currently under development and will become the basis for the R262 procurement. The TS version included in this IR is a working draft subject to change pending approval and finalization by MTA New York City Transit.

Respondents who wish to provide information and comments to this IR should submit those comments by no later than by 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 30th to the following email address: alfred.adebare@nyct.com and mark.dubeau@mtahq.org . Info for the above solicitation(s) can be found on the MTA Vendor Portal at https://www.mta.info/doing-business-with-us/procurement/new-york-city-transit.
