Washington, D.C. (August 21, 2024) – American Public Transportation Association (APTA) President and CEO Paul P. Skoutelas released the following statement on the passing of former Rep. William J. Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ):

“Today, we mourn the passing of William J. Pascrell, Jr., a distinguished New Jersey politician who served with passion and integrity in the U.S. House of Representatives for 28 years. He was a relentless advocate for public transportation, championing infrastructure projects and securing essential funding for New Jersey Transit and the public transportation industry. His commitment to improving public transportation was evident through his early work on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, where he fought to enhance mobility for all Americans, and later his work on the powerful Committee on Ways and Means.
