The APTA Standards Program has advanced several documents for public review and comment. We are seeking feedback from all industry stakeholders to help shape the language found in these documents. The Public Comment period is an essential component of APTA’s consensus-based standards development process.

We invite all bus and rail transit executive-level administrators, operators, transit security professionals, procurement, and rail signals and communications personnel to provide their criticisms, comments or recommendations. APTA will accept any and all comments from industry stakeholders through November 12, 2021.

The current set of documents address the following topics:

Bus Transit Systems – Battery Bus Charger RFP Guidelines

  • Standard Bus Procurement Request for Proposal (RFP), Appendix I: Sample technical specifications for charging equipment: plug-in, overhead conductive, and wireless charging

Rail Transit Systems – Signals and Communications

  • Route Locking Tests
  • Time Locking Tests
  • Traffic Locking Tests
  • Visual Inspection of Wayside Signal Equipment
